Combination Cake and Ice Cream Cake

You could combine any type of cake mix with ice cream layers for the ultimate cake and ice cream cake. However, if you would like to cut back on some calories you are best off making a fat free angel cake.

What you need

  • Angel food cake
  • 1 tub of ice cream
  • 1 carton of whipped cream

What you need to do

Once you have cooked your angel cake and it has cooled cut it in half horizontally and so that it will fit your spring-form pan. Grab your spring-form pan and line it with baking paper.

Place your ice cream into a large bowl and whip with a tablespoon. Then spoon in the ice cream and smooth it around. Then place a layer of angel cake and push down add another ice cream layer and then another cake layer, cover and freeze until ice cream is firm.

Take out and cover with whipped cream frosting, mascarpone or rich chocolate frosting.

For a square slab try a vanilla or chocolate packet cake mix. Follow cake directions and bake in a square or rectangle cake tin. Once cake has cooled cut it horizontally and take your ice cream out of the freezer. Cut your ice cream in half. Place one ice cream slab onto one of the cake slabs then put the other cake slab on top, and then other ice cream slab. Cover the whole thing with whipped cream and freeze in a covered container.
